HELLO! IMPORTANT UPDATE BELOW!

A quick update from Ashlyn & Alex-

Hey Y’all! We wanted to give everyone a quick update on everything really quick.

First of all, we want to thank all our friends and family that have reached out and asked how to help, offered words of encouragement, or just checked in on us. We have a great group of people helping us get through these last couple days. While there is a LOT going on in our hometown, we would not be moving forward if we truly felt that anyone’s safety was in jeopardy. While we can’t predict what will happen in the next few days, we are adjusting our plans to help mitigate any issues that may arise.

When authorities decided to create a ‘secure perimeter’ in the CBD we made the call to move anyone that has a reservation in our hotel block at the Hilton Garden Inn over to the AC Hotel in NuLu (727 East Market Street). If you were booked at the Hilton, you should have received an email cancelling your reservation there, and an email from Jill Klus at the AC asking you to confirm your new reservation. There is a link in the email, but if that doesn’t work, simply call the hotel and they should be able to get everything set up for you. Since they are completely different ownership, we couldn’t just transfer reservations, so please reach out to the AC to confirm your reservation.

We also want to thank Dustin at the HGI for being so willing to work with us during this tough time. All the HGI reservations should have been cancelled automatically, but if you have any questions you can reach out to him.

We feel that having our guests in NuLu gets everyone much closer to Copper & Kings and makes getting to and from much easier. While there is a possibility of protestors being out and about, we feel like they will be focused on downtown.

The other adjustment we have made is that we are moving our timeline up an hour….

4:30pm  will be the new start time for the  ceremony (previous start time was 5:30).

This decision was made based on the fact that the mayor could extend the 9pm curfew to Saturday. Currently the curfew is in place until Friday night, but with all the unknowns we felt it was easiest to plan ahead and change the start time. If the curfew doesn’t get extended to Saturday…. we’ll have more time to dance our butts off!

We know that these changes can be a challenge, but we hope that you all understand. We want everyone to be able to celebrate our love for each other and ALL of you. Over the last few months of pulling this together Ashlyn’s and my constant mantra has been let’s control what we can.

Let’s all try to make the best of a tough situation, but we can’t wait to have something to actually CELEBRATE in 2020!

Cheers!

A&A

Alex + Ashlyn happily invite you to our wedding celebration on September 26, 2020 in Louisville, Kentucky.

As we all adapt to an uncertain time with COVID-19, we are monitoring the latest public health guidance closely. We are prepared to take every precaution necessary to make our wedding safe for our guests, even if that means postponing it. Right now, our intention is to proceed with our wedding on September 26 as planned. Please RSVP and book your accommodations as you normally would, but confirm the cancellation policies of hotels and airlines, just in case.

If circumstances change, however, we will provide updated information to our guests here on the website. Be sure to add your email to our contact list so we can keep you informed of any urgent changes. Our email is alexashlyn926@gmail.com if you have any questions not answered on the website.

If you need more information on how we plan to keep our guests safe and comply with public health guidance, the link below describes all of the policies and procedures we will have in place on our wedding day. We understand that everyone has different comfort levels during this time, so we want you to make the decision of whether or not to attend considering all available information. Thank you for your love and patience – we look forward to celebrating with you soon!

Our Story

HOW WE MET

We met in the summer of 2014 while working together at Weyland Ventures. Alex had just switched jobs, and Ashlyn had moved to Louisville to take her first job after graduate school. Alex took Ashlyn to lunch at the Main Street Eatery on her first Friday for the best grilled cheese and tomato soup in Louisville. We became fast “work friends” as the only two architects in the office working closely every day. In February, we went to Game, the only restaurant in town where she could try a kangaroo burger, to celebrate Ashlyn’s birthday. A week later, a snowstorm dropped 6 inches of snow on Louisville and forced the office to close. We put on snow pants and ski goggles, made to-go cups of bourbon, and walked “half a mile” through Joe Creason Park to Shenanigan’s Pub, where we spent 8 hours waiting out the storm with beers and laughter.

OUR ENGAGEMENT

We traveled to New Orleans for summer vacation, and stayed at the cutest Airbnb in the Garden District. New Orleans has always been a special place for Alex – his parents spent their honeymoon in the city and he has family in nearby Baton Rouge. Ashlyn had only been to the city during Mardi Gras, and wanted to see the history and architecture of New Orleans. After a couple days of sightseeing, hurricanes at Pat O’Brien’s, and bike rides through Audubon Park, on Saturday, June 1, 2019, Alex nervously asked Ashlyn to marry him on the back deck of their Airbnb. Ashlyn said “of course!” and we went to dinner at Coquette on Magazine Street. Ashlyn found a fabulous photographer to commemorate the event with engagement photos in the city, and we can’t wait to bring Tyler Drude to Louisville to capture our wedding day as well.
